Stop Refreshing Marriott: Rate and Award Alerts That Show Every Check

Set a Marriott cash or award alert, see every check HotelXray runs, and get an email when your stay matches.

Last updated

The Marriott hotel you want has no award space, or the cash rate is above your budget. Set an alert in HotelXray and let it watch the dates. When a check finds a match, you get an email with the price and a booking link. You can open the check log whenever you want to see what it found along the way.

Marriott alerts now join Hyatt alerts in the same Chrome extension. If you already use HotelXray for Hyatt, enable Marriott access in the panel to watch both programs from one account.

Step 1: Open the Marriott alert form

Open HotelXray on marriott.com and grant Marriott site access if prompted. From a search result, click the bell labeled Set alert near the hotel name. Its tooltip reads Set alert for this hotel.

Start an alert from a hotel you are comparing in search.

You can also open a day in the hotel’s calendar and click the bell in that day’s header. Set alert for this night starts with a one-night stay; change the dates in the form if you want a longer trip. Both entry points open the same form.

Step 2: Configure your alert

The sample prices and check history below follow a three-night alert for New York Marriott Marquis, October 11–14, 2026, with ±1 day of flexibility and Every change notifications.

Marriott alert form for October 11–14 with plus or minus one day, Every change, a $500 nightly cash limit, 180,000 standard points, and 210,000 upgraded points; Points + cash is available but unchecked
One alert can watch cash and all three Marriott award options.

Choose the stay and flexibility

Full stay watches for every night of your trip being bookable together. The date range can be up to 30 days. With ±1 day selected, our three-night example watches October 10–13, October 11–14, and October 12–15. Choosing ±2 days adds another possible start date on each side, keeping the stay length unchanged.

Any-day watches individual nights within a range of up to seven nights. Use it when one night at the property would work and the date is negotiable. Any-day always uses exact dates because the range already provides the flexibility. Its points and Points + cash limits apply to each single night.

Set the cash and award conditions

Under Cash stay, select Entire stay bookable by cash. Leave the optional limit unchecked to watch availability at any price, or set a maximum average nightly rate. Our example uses $500 USD per night, including fees and before taxes.

Under Award stay, select Entire stay bookable by points, then choose the Marriott payment options you would accept:

Option What it watches Example maximum
Standard room redemption A standard room paid entirely with points 180,000 points for the stay
Upgraded room redemption An upgraded room paid entirely with points 210,000 points for the stay
Points + cash A standard redemption plus a cash upgrade 150,000 points and $450 for the stay

For this walkthrough, select cash, standard redemption, and upgraded redemption. Points + cash is another option if you would accept a cash upgrade; leave it unchecked for this example.

The enabled cash and award options are alternatives: any one can trigger a match. You do not need cash, standard redemption, and upgraded redemption all to qualify together.

A threshold narrows its parent condition. With the $500 cash limit checked, a bookable room at $550 per night does not qualify on cash. An enabled award option could still match independently.

Points + cash has separate points and cash limits. Set both to keep the same offer within both budgets. For example, 145,000 points plus $420 meets the limits in the table above.

Watch the units: cash-rate targets are average per night; award points and the Points + cash cash portion are totals for the stay. Both cash limits include fees and exclude taxes.

Choose how long to keep watching

Notify once stops after the first match. Every change keeps watching and emails you when a qualifying result changes, such as a different price or award space returning. Repeated checks with the same result stay in the log.

Choose Every change for this example, then save the alert. HotelXray sends a confirmation when you create or change an alert.

Step 3: Read the check log

Save the alert and close the Marriott tab. HotelXray checks the dates in the background and emails you when a check finds a match.

Open Alert check log from your alert in the panel or your account’s Alerts page. It records when checks ran, the values observed, and which conditions passed.

Checks for all three candidate stays. The latest October 12–15 result meets every configured limit. Open the image to read every column.

The columns follow your selected options. This alert shows Cash/Night, Standard room redemption, and Upgraded room redemption. Flexible alerts include a Stay column identifying the exact candidate dates. Scroll horizontally on a narrow screen to see every column. Enabling Points + cash adds its points and cash columns.

In this example, October 12–15 qualifies at $480 per night, 175,000 standard-redemption points, or 205,000 upgraded-redemption points. Each points figure covers the three-night stay.

A green check marks a condition that passed. No Award Stay Available records a check that found no award space. The history lets you follow prices and availability even before your target is met.

Step 4: Act on the match email

The email identifies the hotel, the watched dates, and the actual stay that matched. For our flexible example, the booking dates are October 12–15, one day later than the original selection.

The example results are labeled Cash, Points, and Points (upgraded room). Each includes the price found and your targets, with room details and mandatory fees alongside the award total when available.

Choose Book with cash or Book with points to open the matched stay and complete your booking on marriott.com. Use Manage alert to change what you watch or View check log to see the latest checks.

Keep watching after a match

Notify once alerts move to Notified. Every change alerts remain Active, useful when you have booked a refundable rate and want to catch another drop. An alert moves to Dates passed when no watched candidate dates remain bookable; a flexible alert can continue past its original start date while a later candidate remains.

Review, edit, or delete alerts in the side panel or on your Alerts page. Each alert watches one room for two adults at one hotel. Set separate alerts to compare your shortlist over the same dates.
